Logan Heights Branch Library
The new Logan Heights Branch Library's community room was packed to capacity as community members and project supporters gathered to open the new branch on December 11, 2009. The new, two-story, 25,000 square foot branch library replaces a 3,967 square-foot facility built in 1927.
In a unique joint-use arrangement with the San Diego Unified School District, the library shares space with Logan Elementary School and Memorial Preparatory for Scholars and Athletes and is adjacent to King Chavez Academy of Excellence. The Library offers incredible resources to students, including special library access by school faculty and students before open hours and school priority for all meeting rooms, labs and seminar rooms.

The new library will be supported with a generous endowment gift from Gracia Molina de Pick. “The newly established Gracia Molina de Pick & Richard Allen Pick Endowment Fund at the San Diego Public Library Foundation will provide a lasting source of revenue to support a wide range of needs at this new library,” said Council President Ben Hueso at the opening.
Other private library supporters of the library include Ann and Phil White, Judy Eby, Lloyd and Caroline de Llamas, CP Kelco, Las Patronas, the La Jolla Debutante Ball Committee, the Logan Heights Friends of the Library and The Samuel & Katherine Weaver French Fund.
