Although he now is president of an international firm headquartered in Covina, Lloyd deLlamas has never forgotten the crucial role the San Diego Public Libraries, and in particular the San Ysidro Branch Library, played in his life.
"The San Ysidro Library was a major factor in my becoming motivated about education and eventually going on to college,” he recently said.
In 2008, this led Lloyd and Caroline de Llamas to make a gift to the San Ysidro Branch Library that provided new carpeting, paint and shelving, and tremendously improved the interior space of the well-used and worn library. The gift also supported the purchase of new books and DVDs, particularly Spanish language materials needed by the community.
The impact of the deLlamas gift was recently highlighted in the San Diego Union Tribune.
