Arthur Salm, commentator for the San Diego News Network, in his most recent piece, notes the importance of San Diego's libraries.
Noting the efficiency of the Kensington/Normal Height Branch Library in securing a novel he was looking for, Salm opined on the value of supporting libraries.
"We don’t support libraries just to make it possible for authors to produce more books for our enjoyment, or, for that matter, so that people can find out how to start a business, or get into a good school and get a good job and contribute to the economy. We also support them so that somebody can learn how to build a birdcage out of Popsicle sticks, finally try some Emily Dickenson, take a look at what sounds like a terrific novel about a 2nd century A.D. Roman emperor."
